Journalist – Communicator – Storyteller

After years away, I find myself back home – living in and reporting on the city that helped shape me: Washington, DC.

Working as a freelance journalist has been the gift I never saw coming in my career.

I focused solely on local news for several years, celebrating two EMMY nominations, and more importantly, gaining trusted sources in my community. When I got married and moved home to Washington, DC, I decided to actively pursue freelance journalism and new experiences. Four years later, my career in DC has given me the opportunity to cover local, national and international news for a number of outlets and companies.

Currently, you’ll find me filling in for the Hearst Washington Bureau as a national correspondent and you'll hear me internationally on Voice of America as a radio anchor.

I very proudly spent nearly a year as a multi-skilled journalist for WUSA9 as well. I’ve made a number of appearances on Hearst’s nationally syndicated political magazine "Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien," adding to the program's coverage of the 2016 Presidential Election. I've also worked as a field producer for an award winning video production company out of the DC area.

Prior to moving to Washington, I lived in Virginia Beach and worked for Hampton Roads, Virginia’s top-rated television station, WAVY-TV 10.

At WAVY I was honored with the EMMY nominations; one for my coverage of a tornado that left a baby dead, and another for my story on a decades-old rape case that involved a woman pressing charges against her step-father. I’ve also worked at WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina and CBS19 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

While I love telling your stories – I’m also passionate about the story I am creating every day with my family in the community we live in.

My husband and I love to explore the city and wander until we discover something new. Recipe testing, running races, the Washington Nationals and daydreaming about our travel bucket list: yes, these are a few of my favorite things! In 2017, our daughter Anastasia was born! After becoming a mother and having Anastasia prematurely, birth and new motherhood has become another passion and fascination for me. I love to share and explore all the resources Washington, DC has to offer to new moms.

Life got even more exciting for us in 2019, when we added a bouncing baby boy to our pack.

Our littlest Nats fan made a timely arrival, just as his mother predicted, during the Nationals' World Series, (specifically during the 7th inning of game 2!) thus preventing his parents from attending any of the home games. Needless to say, our "world series baby" was worth watching the Nationals win from the couch! You’ll also find me volunteering with the alumni network for both my alma maters: Connelly School of the Holy Child and Elon University.

In the past, I’ve also been a volunteer and committee member for Girls on the Run of South Hampton Roads and regularly delivered meals through Meals on Wheels. While it’s not part of my resume or one of my hobbies, I’m proud of my husband, an active duty member of the U.S. Navy.
